Frequently asked questions.
Here you will find the answers.
How far from Calais are you?
Calais is around a 9-hour drive, Caen is around 7.30 hours.
Can we stop at a hotel on the way down?
Most customers drive to Limoges and stay over on the Friday night and arrive with us
on the Saturday.
Can one angler book?
One angler can hire the boat, the total (per week) rental price remains the same.
Can we go up and down the river through locks?
Not unless you're experienced is the answer, the boat is big, heavy and hard to secure in some swims, we are on hand for any moves of swims and to navigate between stretches. We are here to help and we have vast experience on locations, swims and tactics.
We have hired carp boats before; can we navigate between locks and move swims?
If you have the experience this can be discussed.
How much is the deposit?
£400 per weekly boat rental, with the remaining to be paid on arrival in Euros, cash based on the exchange rate at the time.
How do we pay for bait?
Bait must be ordered 4 weeks prior to your holiday, paid for in Euros on arrival.
What do we do about food shopping?
We advise to bring enough food for the start of the week on arrival, on the Wednesday of your session, we can either pick an angler up and take him or her shopping. Alternatively, we can collect a list and go shopping for you. (Remember, the boat needs to be occupied at all times).
Can we bring our own equipment?
We have decided all anglers must use our equipment, (rods, reels, etc.) this is due to so many fish being lost by not having the right tools for the job. Our equipment is made for this type of fishing. We also like the boat deck to be clean and tidy - using our kit means you do not have to bring much equipment at all. This makes for a much more enjoyable holiday experience, boat fishing is all about being prepared and tidy, an untidy boat ruins the experience.
Does the boat have a toilet?
Yes it does but it rarely gets used (use your common sense with toiletry requirements). Anyone found leaving toilet roll or wet wipes on the bank will be banned for life. Please bin in your toilet roll! NO EXCUSES! Take only memories and leave only footsteps.
Does the boat have a shower?
There’s a small sit-down cold-water shower, most if not all anglers wash in the river while swimming, why not?
Do you do airport transfers?
Not at the moment, this may be subject to change in the near future.
Where do we leave our vehicles?
You may choose to leave your vehicle in parking, riverside, if preferred, we have secure parking just 30 minutes’ drive from the river.
Are your trips guided?
No, we do not offer guided trips, however we can offer advice on locations, tactics, rigs and anything else you may need.
Can we book the boat with you?
No sorry, the boat is only rented by anglers, unfortunately we cannot be aboard at night.
How do we charge our phones?
The boat has an inbuilt power system with USB charging ports.
Can we move when we want?
Yes you can choose when to move swims, however, we choose swims you stand a good chance of catching from and the boat can be safely secured in position, the boat is nearly 2 tonnes in weight and over 7 metres long, so we need to help with moving/securing. (Unless otherwise agreed, due to previous experience).
How many can we expect to catch in a week?
That depends on many aspects, the condition of the river, how hard you work and how quick you learn. It’s a wild river and I would just set a low initial target; a River Lot carp is a special fish.
How much bait will we need?
I would recommend starting with 50KG of boilies and one barrel of particles per angler, any more can be dropped off on request.
Can we bring our own bait?
Yes, however this is not recommended. Our bait is very fairly priced and designed for this type of fishing. Most other baits are not suitable. These river carp see our bait as a natural food source due to the amount that's introduced on a regular basis. Most baits manufactured in the UK wouldn’t last an hour in the river, please use our in-house bait.
